Michelle Mattar was called to the Bar in 2005, having been a solicitor since 2001.

Prior to coming to the Bar, she practiced largely in the areas of family law, criminal law, medical malpractice and insurance work for both the plaintiff and defendant. She has worked for the previous Abbott Tout Lawyers and White Barnes & Associates.

Since coming to the Bar, Michelle has predominantly appeared in family law, in complex parenting and property matters on behalf of parents, grandparents, other family members and Independent Children’s Lawyers. She has appeared in many matters involving no time cases which have been unreported.

Michelle has appeared for many non-English speaking clients in particular of Arabic background as Michelle is able to speak a number of languages.

She has a keen interest in family provision cases and undertook further study at the College of Law in 2021. She obtained a Graduate Certificate in Applied Law majoring in Advanced Parenting and Family Provisions Claims.

Since 2014, Michelle has been a NMAS accredited mediator with the NSW Bar Association. She was previously on the Law Society FLSS Panel and is on the District and Supreme Court Panel.

Since 2018 Michelle has been an Adjunct lecturer at College of Law where she regularly teaches Advocacy.

Throughout 2020-2021, Michelle mentored and guided over 2 dozen lawyers through the College of Law.
