We are one of Sydney's oldest and most respected Barristers Chambers.

Chalfont Chambers COVID-19 Policy

In accordance with Chalfont Chambers’ duty to ensure a workplace that is free of known hazards and health risks, it has become necessary for chambers to adopt a COVID-19 policy to safeguard the health of our employees; barristers and their families; visitors; and the community at large from infectious diseases that may be reduced by vaccination.

This policy is based on guidance from the NSW Government and NSW Health.

It is a condition of entry to Chalfont Chambers that ALL visitors display one or more of the following:

  • A COVID-19 digital certificate displayed through the Medicare App, Service NSW App or equivalent smartphone wallet; or
  • Printed version of the COVID-19 digital certificate or immunisation history statement; or
  • Successful completion of a Service NSW QR check-in that includes vaccination confirmation; or
  • Proof of medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination AND a negative COVID-19 test result within 24 hours of intended entry to Chambers.

It is recognised that there are some members of the community who will be unable to comply with the above requirements and it is suggested that conferences etc., with those individuals take place by electronic means such as, telephone, skype, zoom, teams etc.

Chalfont Chambers was established circa 1901 by leading practitioners of the day.

We are situated on Level 9 of the Culwulla Chambers Building at 67 Castlereagh Street Sydney, close to the Supreme and Federal Court and only minutes from the Downing Centre, John Maddison Tower and the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Chalfont has 24 members including both senior and junior barristers, as well as 1 reader, who offer a wide array of legal specialisation and expertise. We share a commitment to delivering knowledgeable, clear advice and excellent advocacy in all cases undertaken.

Chalfont members appear in all Australian Courts from the High Court to Administrative Tribunals to the Local Court. We also regularly take part in mediations and arbitrations.

Members of Chalfont have always provided the very best in legal services, a founding principle that underpins everything we do.

We believe our strength is built upon the diversity of practice areas among our members.

The advantage of briefing a barrister at Chalfont is that you receive the combined expertise of all members, who frequently discuss issues either formally or informally whilst maintaining client confidentiality.

Our collegiate atmosphere creates a set of barristers with a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience who provide specific and relevant legal advice.
